If you were a baby boomer and grew up in the twentieth century, you experienced an era of structures that have disappeared as a practice in the twentieth first century. Looking at the maturation of the people of the twentieth century from infant to adult there were identifiable differences to compare too in todays world. The ability to express values and morales was considered and accepted by our communities. It has been lost in the political correct minutiae of what should not be done from what was right. By observing and serving youth and adults who have experienced homelessness, addiction, alcoholism, absentee parents, incarcerated people and dysfunctional families they have many similar experiences. This leads us to have a better understanding of how we got to where we are at today. The most intelligent people on how to approach drugs, alcohol, prisons, homelessness, which has bread more crime in our communities have made us all believe we can solve the deplorable conditions with passing more laws, building welfare systems that only through more money at the problem with instituting punitive measures that creates stigma of lower expectations of those who end up in these never ending journeys.
